There is something for everyone at Bethlehem, especially YOU!

Bethlehem means "house of bread" in Hebrew. It first appears in Scripture as Jacob and Rachel travel to a new destination (Genesis 35:16-21). Next it is found in the account of a young man seeking his place in life (Judges 17:7). Known as a bakery town for its fields of grain, Bethlehem is the place where Ruth and her mother-in-law went during a time of famine (Ruth 1). Because Ruth stayed, Bethlehem became the birthplace of David, the esteemed king who gave us the great prayer-book of the Bible known as the Psalms (I Samuel 17:12). Much later, because a census was being taken that required Mary’s husband Joseph to register in his hometown, Jesus was born in that crowded town; not in a palace but a stable (Luke 2:1-7).

Because Jesus came as our God and Savior in that Bethlehem, we gather at this Bethlehem to, quoting the portico inscription, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ." Wherever we come from and whatever the circumstances that lead us here, we exist to be a house of bread: A place of believing, belonging, and being fed through Jesus who spoke of himself as the very Bread of Life (John 6:35) and was known to His disciples by His blessing and sharing of bread (Luke 24:30- 31a).

We gather at this place to grow in faith toward our Lord and to show love to each person in body, soul, and spirit. We welcome you to join us as we gather around Jesus in worship and prayer, study and service, here and in daily life, so that all can come to know the One who meets us in our places of hunger and feeds us so that we hunger no more (John 6:57-58 ).
